MayDay-MayDay

Almost at the end of 2008, enche Fuad Arif asked me to join a group of artists for a small yet ambitious exhibition at Threesixty Art Developement Studio, Desa Park City, KL.

A small group show with a quite big space, with only six artist and only a single artwork each, exhibited in a commercial art space, is a bold attitude projected by Threesixty Art Developement Studio and Galeri Chandan and their commitment towards the local art development.
The codename/working title of the show was originally MayDay-MayDay, but curatorial changed it to....

“Possibilities of maybes”
On Showcase from 22 May - 21 June 2009

Overview
This show consists a diverse range of young artists who exhibit multiple levels of experience and in-depth understanding of art. Some have been doing artworks for more than 10 years and some are newly made.

The whole idea is to see and discover how this hodgepodge of talents make any difference when it comes to a business of ‘production’ which is also connected to how art is/has been perceived and habitually implicated in local framework.

This show hopes to illustrate how art can work critically but at the same time, still exist within the boundaries of the local ‘condition’ especially when dealing with the question, commodity, novelty and avant-garde of the artworks.
